In the whispering glades of ancient Greece, lived the nymph Echo, blessed with a voice of enchanting beauty, yet cursed to only repeat the words of others. She yearned for the affections of the strikingly handsome Narcissus, a youth so enamored with his own reflection that he spurned all advances. One fateful day, Echo stumbled upon Narcissus gazing at his image in a crystal-clear pool. Consumed by love, she desperately tried to express her feelings, but only a faint echo of his own words escaped her lips. Narcissus, oblivious to Echo's affections and captivated by his own allure, remained unmoved. Heartbroken and rejected, Echo retreated into the solitude of the forest, her love unrequited, her body withering away until only her voice remained, a haunting reminder of her lost love, forever echoing the words of others. Narcissus, consumed by self-love, eventually met his demise, transforming into the delicate narcissus flower, forever gazing at his reflection in the water. The tale of Echo and Narcissus serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers of vanity and the tragedy of unrequited love.
