Social media is a powerful tool for understanding history in fun and interesting ways. Websites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram don't only help us stay connected today but they also give us a way to look back at history. The project, "Crowdsourcing History," is all about exploring how social media can help us study history in new ways.
In the past, most history was written by a small number of people, often leaving out regular people’s stories. But with social media, everyone can share their thoughts, experiences, and opinions. By looking at posts, comments, and stories, we can learn what mattered to everyday people during big events in history. This helps us understand how people felt, how they thought, and how they communicated, giving us a more complete view of history.
This way of studying history makes it easier to connect with because it uses combined knowledge of people. It shows us history through the eyes of regular people, which helps make it more interesting. By looking at social media, we can learn how people from the past lived, thought, and interacted, and get a fresh look at history.
