What this project is really about

In this project, high school students become young biomedical explorers, diving into how the human body works and how medicine helps us stay healthy. Through fun, hands-on activities, they’ll explore questions like: How does your heart pump blood? What happens when you get sick? How do medicines help the body heal? The main activity is the Inside Out Challenge, where students work in teams to create a model or illustrated map of one human body system—like the circulatory, respiratory, or immune system. They’ll use simple materials such as cardboard, recycled items, or digital tools to show how the system works, what can go wrong, and how medicine or doctors help fix it. As they build, students will learn key skills in teamwork, scientific thinking, and communication. At the end of the project, each team will present their body system to a local medical practitioner in a simple and engaging way— testing their knowledge and gaining feedback from a real-world medical expert!

Project Journey

Four phases. One real outcome.

Here's exactly what you'll do — and in what order. No surprises.

1

Research & Discover

Immerse yourself in the problem. Gather real data, talk to stakeholders, and understand the landscape from primary and secondary sources.

Week 1
2

Analyse & Ideate

Find the patterns. Identify root causes, generate multiple solution ideas, and stress-test which approaches are genuinely feasible.

Week 2
3

Design & Build

Create your solution — whether it's a prototype, proposal, campaign, or product. Make it real enough to show an actual audience.

Week 3
4

Present & Reflect

Present your work, field questions, and articulate what you learned. Document your journey so others can build on it.
